Tony’s reflective writing
When I had gotten the news that I would take part in the training course arranged by the education bureau, I was very excited. On the one hand, I can learn some new useful teaching ideas on English from native English speakers. On the other hand, it’s a good opportunity for me to communicate with other high school teachers to solve the problems and difficulties that we face in class. Therefore, I’m very eager to start my journey of study.
Actually, I worried a bit before this training because I didn’t know whether I can adapt to the foreign teacher’s oral English and teaching ways or not. Meanwhile, I also worried whether I would have a lot of homework, exercises and tests to do like my students. But Marg’s appearance had driven these worries away. I was fond of the class given by Marg.
First of all, it’s hard for me not to concentrate on listening to Marg in class. Because she always presents some new different teaching contents which are very helpful to our English teaching, for example,
Secondly, compared with my lesson, Marg’s lessons are more interesting and lively because of new different activities. Students have more opportunities to speak, write and invole in the lessons. However, I often play an impotant role in class rather than students. Finally, we did have some tasks to consolidate and practice what we have learned in class. But I really didn’t feel that they are a burden for me to do that. Maybe these tasks have interesting topics and they are easy to finish. Maybe it is the magic of Marg’s lessons.
All in all, I benefit a lot from the training course this summer holiday. I will try to use some teaching ways and ideas which I have gained from here especially for those practical and interesting games and group activities that are helpful to make my lessons alive and energetic. So thanks to Marg. Thanks to my partners in this training course. It makes me feel that summer is also the harvest season this year although usually people say autumn is.
